Polvos serves authentic Mexican fare and is famous for its salsa bar. Matt's El Rancho is a legendary, made-from-scratch Tex-Mex restaurant. The owner started his restaurant career selling tamales from a pushcart at age six. Gueros is another popular restaurant in Zilker and Travis Heights, with incredible tacos made with handmade corn tortillas. Homeslice Pizza specializes in thin, Neapolitan pizza. The chefs at Vespaio make everything themselves, from butchering the meat to making the cheese, pasta, and bread - they take made from scratch seriously and you can taste the difference in every bite.

 

Things to Do 

Zilker and Travis Heights are home to a number of parks and recreational areas, including Big Stacy Park, which has scenic walking trails, picnicking areas, and a playground. For those looking for a more unique outdoor experience, Congress Avenue Bridge is home to over 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats. Every evening at dusk, these bats take flight from their roosts in search of food, providing an unforgettable sight for locals and visitors alike.
